"Lebanese Fair Trade Towns" Project

‘Lebanese Fair Trade Towns’ is a project aiming at creating 10 Lebanese Fair Trade towns as a means to integrate villages in the global fair trade network.

Here are the 7 activities which are necessary to achieve in order to become a ‘ Fair Trade Town’:
1- The municipality signs a declaration of agreement to supporting Fair Trade and achieving Fair Trade Town status.
2- Increase the awareness & knowledge about Fair Trade in the community with the eventual aim of increasing the sales of fair trade and local produce in the community.
3- Encourage local businesses, institutions and producers to work in compliance with ethical fair trade criteria.
4- Organize an annual event with the theme of fair trade in the town, to which media will be invited.
5- Form a Fair Trade committee in the town.
6- Support local producers & help them to integrate into the fair trade network in Lebanon & elsewhere.
7- Work on the respect and protection of the environment and the tangible and intangible heritage.
The project is implemented by Fair Trade Lebanon and Mouvement Social. It is funded by the European Union and and managed by OMSAR (The Office of the Minister of State for Administrative Reform) in the framework of the AFKAR III program.
