Fair Trade = No Poverty!

For the second time, the World Fair Trade Organization (WFTO) observed the Global Anti-Poverty Week from 16th to 22^nd of October 2016 and highlighted the tangible contribution of its members to the eradication of poverty.

Promoting the 10 Principles of Fair Trade is a means to eradicate poverty as desired by the first goal of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals – NO POVERTY.

WFTO believes that the principles of Fair Trade are effective overarching tools to fight poverty.

Hence, WFTO’s formula to eradicate poverty:  Fair Trade + Economic Opportunities = No Poverty

For the campaign, all members used the icons of Fair Trade Principle 1 (Creating Opportunities for Disadvantaged Producers) and Sustainable Development Goals 1 (No Poverty) to represent visually our formula of change. See Fair Trade Lebanon’s visual below.

By creating economic opportunities for producers, especially the small and marginalized farmers and artisans, the WFTO and its members believe that poverty could be eradicated.
